At the National Masters Half-marathon Championships in Tullamore in August 2023, Pauline Moran Mayo AC ran a personal best 1:30.56 winning the W65 age category – a new Irish age group record.

Her Tullamore time improved on the previous world best for W65 – 1:32.56 achieved by Emmi Luthi Switzerland in May 2009.

Mayo AC then contacted World Masters Athletics Organisation attaching Athletics Ireland’s verification of Pauline’s finish time.

They replied:

“Congratulations to Pauline! There are no official world age group records for half-marathon”.

Rosa Mota competed in the World Athletics event last Sunday in Riga running an amazing 1:26.16.
