Women’s 10k (Mini Marathon) results + a PB for Dee Finnegan!

Women’s 10k (Mini Marathon) June 6, Dublin

New registered Mayo AC member Dee Finnegan had a great run in Dublin. She came home in 48:21 – a pb by 90 seconds! Dee ran 49:51 in the Women’s 10k in Castlebar last month.

That’s one of the benefits of joining Mayo AC! And she has the support of the Castlebar Fit4Life group of course.
In addition to the photo finish victory of Sligo AC’s Aoife Kilgallon in a 33:07 pb, there were some other significant perfomances by West of Ireland runners.

Sara Doohan (Corran AC) delighted with new pb 35:67 and 3rd F40

Doocastle Co Mayo based Sara Doohan (Corran AC) ran a brilliant pb 35:57 to finish 15th overall and 3rd F40.

Karen Mulrooney (Sligo AC) came home 12th in 34:59.
Dublin based Ballycroy runner Maura Ginty (Sportsworld AC) was 38th in 40:33, just ahead of Westport native Niamh Richardson (Kilkenny City Harriers) 44th in 40:33 and 1st F55.
Niamh’s daughter Aoibhe finished 8th in 34:13.
Also in the Vhi Women’s 10k we missed another excellent performance by a West of Ireland runner Christine Kennedy GCH who finished in 42:46 in 60th place and first F65. She is a former winner (among other feats) of back to back Dublin City Marathons in the early ’90s. And in the last decade became the only woman to go under 3 hours for the marathon.
There were just over 12,200 finishers of whom 273 crossed the line in under 50 minutes.
