Colette leads our National 10k finishers home!
Well done to all of our sixteen finishers in the National 10k. The Phoenix Park course is a tough one, and it was extra challenging today with a strong blustery wind and occasional hail showers. It wasn’t a day for PBs but some will have been very close if not achieving that goal. For anyone watching the live coverage our singlets were well in evidence during the screening of the event. Anne Murray, Colette Tuohy and Jimmy Feeney look to be close to individual age category medals, but we will have to wait until Athletics Ireland publish the championship results. Colette was running her first 10k of the year and finished a very creditable 14th in AAI women. With Mary Gleeson 21st and Chris Gallagher 49th they will be in contention for o35 team medals. Paula Prendergast redeemed her form on a much tougher course than Kilmovee and was our first senior in 42:02, backed up by Edel Feeney 46:42 and Mairead Cafferkey 47:12. John Timothy was one who had a very strong run in 54:42 a massive four minutes better than Kilmovee, and based like many on Matt Bidwell’s track sessions on Thursday evenings. Shane Timothy was not to be outdone, as he improved his time from last week by 90 seconds. It was good to see Ronnie Naylor back on the road and competing again at this level and leading the men home in 41:59. Anne Murray, Bernie McHugh and Mary Walsh came home with great times and should be in the o50 team reckoning. We’ll update here as soon as AAI results are known, and also add in any pb confirmations – don’t be shy!
