The big race of the weekend was the 6th Craughwell 10 mile, over a recognised fast flat course. The ten mile is a classic imperial distance which is still a formidable and increasingly popular challenge in the metric age. Mick Clohisey (Raheny Shamrock AC) led five clubmates home to retain his 2014 title in 49:29 – just 17 seconds outside the course record. However the Raheny dominance was  split by a brilliant personal best run by Matt Bidwell (GCH) who came home second in 52:41, and improved on his third place last year. Jane Ann Healy (Athenry AC) won the women’s race in 60:19.
There was a good turnout from Mayo AC – Tom Charles 71:07, Val P Glynn M60 79:41, Sean McGuinness 81:42, Christy O’Malley 88:00, and included some great runs from our Ballyhaunis Meet & Train members led home by Joe O’Gara 86:18, Judith Davitt 92:05, Karen Clancy 93:16, Katie Concannon 93:11, Martin Fitzmaurice 96:56,  Liz Walsh 99:39, Elaine Patterson 1:40:53

10418899_872879292755528_8310284562329483642_nFirst home was Noel Gibbons 37:03 followed five seconds later by Mayo AC’s Anto Devaney 37:08, with Sean Murphy 3rd 37:25 in possibly a new pb. Brendan Hession 38:11 and Michael McNeela 41:00 were our next leading men, with just 7 finishers under 40 minutes.

Chris Gallagher (Mayo AC) was winner of women’s race in 43:47. She’s been improving every week at our training sessions and looks in good form for F45 in National 10k. Imelda Hughes was 2nd, and well done to Laura Heneghan (Mayo AC) who ran a pb for third place in 45:26. She’s obviously benefitting from the various Thursday evening sets at Claremorris track, as has Mags Glavey who was 4th in 45:41, and looking good for F65 in the Park.
