‘Mighty Mayo’ win relay..and more results

On Saturday  morning in Dublin: Frank Duffy ’10’ mile (736 finishers). Paula Prendergast finished a creditable 14th woman overall in 64:47, over 30 seconds faster than her 2013 finish time and 10 seconds outside her Craughwell 10 time in March this year. There could be a great Mayo women’s contest at Charlestown 10k on Saturday week, if Paula, Norah Newcombe, Ann Lennon, Colette Tuohy and Sarah Syron, Angela O’Connor  compete. They have all had good results and wins at different locations this year.

On Sunday: 13th Longford Marathon (236 finishers) was won by Balla 10k winner Freddy Keron Sittuk (Raheny Shamrock) in 2:27:46, five minutes outside his course record of 2013. Congratulations  to the ‘Mighty Mayo’ team who won the Marathon Relay consisting of four laps, 3 of approximately 7.5 and one of 4 miles. Our members Ann McDonnell and Clive Lavelle were joined by friends Padraig McVann and Kevin O’Malley. They came home first of 13 teams in 3:02:05.

John Geraghty has been busy racing again. He ran his fourth 2014 marathon in Letterkenny Sunday morning finishing in 3:58. After the recent National Half 1:47:38, he ran a pb in the Streets of Galway 8k 35:48. His Gael Force finish time last week was his best so far. John says he is going to take a few weeks off to re-charge ahead of Dublin…. (watch this space!) .

Look out for Charlestown 10k details on here mid week. It’s our 4th Move2Improve race and the course gives all levels a real chance of a pb.
