Paula Prendergast finished first woman at the big race of the week-end in the West and was delighted with her 64:50 finish following her 39:32 victory in the Tubbercurry 10k on St Patrick’s Day. Mick Clohissy (Raheny Shamrock) won in 50:12. Another of our Tubber winners, Margaret Glavey was first F60 in 75:18. and like Paula, will be pleased with her form ahead of the National 10k on 6th April where they are part of our 25 strong squad.
There were fifteen more Mayo AC finishers: Tom Charles 73:15, Clive Lavelle 74:38, Val P Glynn M60 77:11, some great times from Claremorris Fit4Life quintet – Tracy Durkan 78:23, Laura Heneghan 78:38 , Rebecca McHugh 82:58, Bernie McHugh 84:48, Patricia Carty 86:03. Well done to the trio from Ballyhaunis Meet&Train: Jim Donnelly M60 90:37, Martin Fitzmaurice 92:43, Karen Clancy 95:45; also Mairead Cafferkey 80:12, Christy O’Malley 80:54, Caroline Hession 92:26, Mark Fitzgerald 2:14:58.
Val P Glynn says “There was also an excellent performance from Claremorris runner Brendan McDonnell who came home in a powerful 62.49. Great day and a great event, excellently run with plenty of delicious food afterwards”.
