The community of South Sligo and surrounding areas were out in force again today to support the 7th annual local 5k, with all donations at registration in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurry in aid of a very worthy cause – SHOUT (Sligo Hospital Oncology Unit.
The course is familiar to many by now- out the N17 and left up Lover’s Lane before heading back down the Mountain Road to the finish at Wolfe Tone Square.
Today’s race was won by Pearse Gallagher (Swinford AC) in 17:46. He won the Tom Normanly Memorial cup as first junior across the line.
Edel Reilly (Mayo AC) was second in 17:55 – another excellent finish time following two recent pbs, 6k at Hollymount and 10k at Belleek. Another junior athlete Barry Clavin (Corran AC) was third in 18:04.
