Track training resumes

We are delighted to announce that track training for Mayo AC members resumes next week at both St Mary’s track Castlebar and Claremorris track.

Training at St Mary’s will resume on Tuesday  evening June 16. There will be one session led by coach Matt Bidwell and the group will be capped at 14 members.

Training at Claremorris will resume on Thursday June 18 with two sessions, both led by coach Matt Bidwell and both groups capped at 14 members.

As everyone is aware, our day to day lives have changed due to the Covid-19 virus, and for us to be able to resume track sessions, we have had to implement changes as outlined by Athletics Ireland. Hopefully this will be short term as numbers may increase for training sessions in Phase 3 at the end of this month, however for the track sessions to resume and continue, we would ask all members to adhere to the below changes and conditions;
Castlebar Track session
This session will be capped at 14 members and Matt our club coach. Warm up at the track will be at 6.50pm, and the session will start at 7.00pm sharp. Once the session is finished and cool down is completed, all members must leave. This is a closed sessions for Mayo AC members only.
Claremorris Track session
There will be two track session in Claremorris on Thursday evenings. This is a closed sessions for Mayo AC members only. Any non members that come to the track will be asked to leave.
Group one consisting of 14 members and Matt will start at 6.45pm, and group two consisting of 14 members and Matt will take place at 7.20pm.
No warm up or warm down will take place on the track, however, warm up and warm down, strides and drills can be done at the Mushrooms, or beside DeCare Dental. This way there is no delaying around at the track, and once your track session has finished, we ask members to leave the track immediately. Track sessions can be emailed to members in advance of the session too.
Maria will send confirmation of the names for each sessions on Sunday evening.
