Three run in Cardiff International Cross Country
Three of our top masters athletes compete on the Irish team in the 26th Annual British and Irish Masters International Cross Country at Bute Park, Cardiff next Saturday November 16th. They qualified through the masters trial races at the Gerry Farnan Cross Country in the Phoenix Park last month. Pauline Moran, Colette Tuohy and Angela O’Connor all made a successful medal winning debut last year in Belfast. However, Angela who also made the team this year is unable to
travel to Cardiff. Pauline and Colette, will be joined this year by Mayo AC’s Dublin based Jim Gaughan. The Geesala native will compete in the M60 team and will be hoping to add to the medals he won at the World Police & Firefighters Games in Belfast in the summer. Colette is in the W40 team, while Pauline runs W55. Together with Jim they have won 15 out of the club’s 48 National medals total for 2013. Three members in Irish vests is a great achievement and it continues Mayo AC’s proud tradition of participation in this competition over the past ten years. We wish the Irish team the best of luck in Cardiff they as they compete with the top masters runners from England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
