Week-end round up

Knock 5k took place on Saturday morning in support of local N.S. Over 200 runners/walkers took part in a well organised event held in ideal conditions. The first two finishers are prominent underage runners with Claremorris AC.

Men: 1 Cathal Curry (Claremorris AC) 17:57; 2 James Frizzell (Claremorris AC) 18:00; 3 Brendan Hession (Mayo AC) 18:21

Women: 1 Siobhan Lennon (Ennis Track Club) 21.52; 2 Margaret Glavey (Mayo AC) 22.10; 3 Paula Mollohan Carrick-on-Shannon 22.48

Mighty weather altogether over the weekend and very favourable conditions for racing or training runs, or building sand castles. Ballinrobe 10k seems to have been a successful race for a number of members. Well done to John Byrne 32:25, Anto Devaney 36:37  who were first and third in fast times, with Sean McLoughlin Westport Tri second in 34:10. GCH runners came home first and second in the women’s race – Regina Casey 36:50, Siobhan Egan 39:08, with Kathy Gleeson (Claremorris) third in 39:31 – more evidence that she is in great form following her recent return to racing. Well done to all our other Mayo AC finishers including Matthew Gill 39:45,  Reiltin Shaw 45:43, Tim Ganley 47:40 and Maria Nolan 51:57, and congratulations to a couple of pbs – Mairead Cafferkey 45:57 and Ambrose Gaughan 40:50.
