Tadgh and Colette are Ballyhaunis 8k winners
The 8th Annual RunWest Ballyhaunis 8k took place on Sunday afternoon. The race was also the sixth in Mayo AC’s Move2Improve Series sponsored by Vodafone, with points to be won at all three levels. Conditions were great for running on a dry afternoon. The tough climbs at 4/5k provided a extra challenge for the 65 finishers.
Tadgh McGinty (Swinford AC) and Colette Tuohy (Mayo AC) were the clear men’s and women’s race winners respectively. Tadgh is one of our most promising young distance runners and competed in Ireland’s Junior team in the recent Mountain Running Championships in Snowdonia. Good to see another youngster Joseph Wagacha finish third.Like the men’s race the top three women finished roughly a minute apart – all three Colette, Kathy and Angela are in the masters categories. Ann Murray W50 and Pauline Moran W55 recorded excellent times to win their age categories.
The final race in the Mayo AC 2015 Move2Improve Series is the Breaffy 10k on Sunday 11th October. Details on events calendar. Look out for more pics on our facebook pages soon.
