It was good to see some members help form a adult group at the informal cross country training session this morning at Swinford.
It was a useful busy session and many footprints and spike marks helped prepare the course for next Sunday’s County Championships.
Thanks to Swinford AC who hosted and to coaches Phillip Finnerty (Moy Valley AC) Denise Roddy (Castlebar AC) and Peter Hynes (Swinford AC) who put those assembled through their paces.
Well done to Catherine Conway (Mayo AC) who was third woman finisher in today’s Sligo Coast to Coast 10. It’s a point to point race along the edge of Sligo Bay from Strandhill to Rosses Point via the Michael Hughes bridge in Sligo town.
Catherine finished in 65:40, three minutes behind winner Aoife Kilgannon (Sligo AC) 62:55.
Well done also to Donna Gallagher who has been busy racing recently and finished in 77:42.
Runaway race winner was the in-form Hugh Armstrong (Ballina AC) – four minutes clear of the field in a fast 51:18 course record.
