In view of weather forecast you will be well advised to take on water/sports drinks regularly in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday evening… be prudent with quantity!  Brickens will host the 4th race in Mayo AC’s 5k Summer Series on Tuesday next 9th July at 8 pm. The village is on the main road N60 between Claremorris and Ballyhaunis. Like all the series races it is open to all who wish to run, jog, or walk.  Registration will be at the Brickens Community Centre from 7pm. Cost of entry is just €7, or €15 for Brickens 5k plus the final event at Ballyhaunis (16 July) and post Series party. Locals are invited to  enter the spirit  of the occasion and take part at their own pace. There has not been an event like this in the area for over fifty years.

Participants are asked to arrive early, and car pool if possible.Limited parking will be available at Eastern Gaels GAA Club and beside Flanagan’s Pub.
The AAI measured and permitted course is relatively flat. The start is just a short distance south of the Church on the Kilnock road, then the route goes right towards Claremorris. After 2k the runners will swing right through the village of Ranaghard and then leave there before the 3k mark on the main Claremorris /Ballyhaunis road and head to the finish beside Brickens Church.

There has been an excellent turnout for the previous three races and with improved weather conditions forecast the atmosphere and experience will be well worth the effort.
