A successful day for Mayo AC at Athenry, Manulla, Knockmore

St Stephen’s Day: The 15th Annual Fields of Athenry 10k was marked by a fifth consecutive win for Mick Clohisey (Raheny Shamrock AC) 30:35 and a course record for women’s race winner Laura Shaughnessy (Dundrum South Dublin) in 35:03. We had two finishers in the top twenty – Timmie Glavey matched Laura’s time coming home an excellent 7th place. Brendan Gill had a good run too finishing 19th in 36:27. Other Mayo AC listed include Paul Reynolds 38:55, Mags Glavey W65 winner in 46:54 and 290th of 1028 finishers. Thomas Jennings 47:08, Ann Marie Clarke 49:21. Results: FoA2016_Provisional

A successful day for Mayo AC taking home five of the ten prizes awarded, among them both men’s and women’s race winners. John Byrne book-ended the month with his second local win – twenty seconds faster than his Manulla 2015 winning time. Paula Prendergast made her first appearance for some time coming home first in the women’s race in 25:37, almost the same time as her second place finish last year.
