Spring Marathon

The next few weeks see’s some of the top spring marathons take place. A number of our members have been training through all types of winter weather, and will now welcome the taper period that  is the calm before the storm.

Brendan Gill pictured above will be in action first when he takes on The RONHILL Connemara International Marathon this Sunday 10th April. The course meanders past bogs, hills, lakes, and the Twelve Pin mountains and finishes in Maam Cross. Brendan has been in excellent form of late running a PB of 56:26 in the Craughwell 10mile, and will be well to the fore in this challenging  marathon.

On the following weekend Sunday 17th April Gerry Galvin and Paddy O’Toole will compete in the Virgin London Marathon. Both men are in great shape and will look to improve on the PB’s that they ran in Dublin last October. On that date Paddy ran very strongly and finished in the excellent time of 2:43:50. Gerry also set his new marathon best in Dublin in a time of 3:03:24. Gerry has expressed his sincere thanks to all who contributed to Croi charity which he will be running for on Sunday week.

If any other club members are running in one of the Spring marathons please let us know, and best of luck to one and all.
