Sinéad Diver runs new World Masters 10,000 metres record

Sinéad Diver continued her brilliant sequence of personal bests in Doha, and added another age category world record along the way. She holds the World Masters Half Marathon women’s 40+ record- 68:55 in Japan last February. Last night she added another.

Congratulations to Sinéad Diver who set a women’s world masters (40+) record in the 10,000m at the World Athletics Championships in Doha clocking 31:25.49 in 14th place.

The previous record was 31:33.44 by Jo Pavey (GBR) at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Sinéad said afterwards that she “found it tough at the start and then I got into it – it was good. I’m disappointed that I missed out on Tokyo Olympic 10,000m qualifier by
.49 seconds”.

Despite not being included in Athletics Ireland statistics on their All Time list since she declared for Australia, Sinéad is clearly now the third fastest Irish woman ever over 10,000 metres.
Sonia O’Sullivan ran 30:47 in the European Championships in Munich in 2002, and Catherina McKiernan 31:08 in France in 1995.
