In Japan on March 8 the Nagoya Women’s marathon was limited to elite runners. Sinéad Diver returned to familiar territory where she was joined by Charlie Purdue (GB) acting as pacemakers.
The race also served a qualifier for Tokyo 2020.

Mao Ichiyama (JPN) won Nagoya in 2:20:29 to score 3rd place on the Olympic team.

She ran a 16:15 split fro 30 to 35k to open up a 25 second lead.
The pacemakers ran 25k : splits- 16:41-16:38-16:53-16:37-16-40 .
The race took place in rainy conditions.
Ireland’s Paul Pollock was the first athlete to across the finish line at the end of the 2020 Bath Half Marathon on Sunday March 15. He ran 64:14.The race took place despite receiving calls from residents, runners and local MP to cancel the event.

Hundreds of registered entrants chose to run the ‘Virtual Half’ rather than the official race.

Around 6,200 people out of a registered 15,000 chose to run the official Bath Half.
