The race schedule for the elite-only Virgin Money London Marathon has been announced, with a series of events taking place throughout the day on Sunday October 4.
The action will start with the elite women’s race at 07:15 followed by the elite men’s race at 10:15 and the wheelchair races at 13:10.
The 2020 London Marathon will not feature a mass race and the elite racing will take place within a “secure biosphere” in St James’s Park.
World Record holder Brigid Kosgei and current World Champion Ruth Chepngetich have both confirmed their places in the Elite Women’s race. The women’s field includes six runners who have run inside 2:20.
Among the 30 women listed in the elite field is Sinéad Diver (Mayo AC) representing Australia.
Sinéad finished 7th on last year’s London Marathon in a brilliant pb 2:24.11
Athletes will cross the same traditional finish line on The Mall after each completing 19.8 laps of the St James’s Park course.
No spectators will be allowed on the road-side to watch.
There will be live tv coverage of the event.
