Saturday update: Connacht T&F, Corran 5k

Declan Owens won gold 100m and bronze 200m in Connacht T&F

On Saturday (June 15) Declan Owens competed in the Connacht outdoor track and field championships in Claremorris. He came first in the 100m seniors in a new pb of 12.04.

This is the first time he won the Connacht 100m since he started running over 3 years ago. Declan came third in the 200m. Congratulations Declan!

Also on Saturday in Ballymote Co Sligo the fourth race in Sligo Road League was won by Jake O’Regan (St John’s AC) who finished the 5k in a brilliant time 14:56. Jake has been in excellent form these last few weeks winning three of our Summer 5k Series races, the fastest being 15:28 in Foxford on Tuesday last. Today he was pushed hard by JP Carty (Sligo AC) who finished second in 15:03. The top six were all under 16 minutes on this fast flat course. Sara Doohan of the host club Corran AC won the women’s race in a great time 17:33 – 13th overall of 121. Mayo AC had two finishers- well done to Anto Devaney 18:36, and Breege Staunton who came home in 23:33.
