Saturday success at Quest Kenmare and Leinster Indoors
Three members took the long trip south to compete in Quest Kenmare today. It was a difficult week for anyone undertaking long journeys- and fair play to them for competing in the three disciplines of Quest Kenmare.
It is a one-day multi-sport event which takes place in the rugged surrounds of the town in the South West Cork.
The races gives competitors the chance to run cycle, kayak over three distances on 3 different routes The event suits all levels of fitness.
Claremorris based senior member Rhianna Heneghan competed in the 43k sport event. Cycle 18k, run 8k, cycle 12.2k, run 1k, kayak 1k, run 1.1k.
She was the first woman home in 1:57.19. A brilliant achievement – Congratulations Rhianna!

Race winner was David Hickey 1:44.13
Padraic McVann also took on that challenge finishing in 2:18.28 and 4th o50.
In the 28k challenge, (cycle 7k, run 8k cycle 10k, run 1k, kayak 1k, run 1.1k)
Angela McVann finished in 1:49.02, and first woman o50.
Brilliant stuff by the Castlebar couple – well done!
Winner of that event was Sheldon Kirkwood in 1:15.52.
Sprinter John Walkin also competed today. He had a long trip over to the Leinster Indoor Championships to compete as a guest.

He ran 26:36 in the M40 200m heat finishing 2nd, and 8:08 for 3rd in 60m M40 heat.
It was a tiring day and he wasn’t happy with times, but took away the positives on the final indoor championships of the season.
