Norah is presented with her Streets of Sligo 5k prize

The annual Streets of Sligo 5k took place this evening. It’s hosted by Sligo AC in conjunction with Sligo County Council and sponsored by ‘Lola Montez’. The 5k is run on a fast flat course over two laps of the town centre generating a great atmosphere along the streets.

Congratulations to Norah Newcombe Pieterse (Mayo AC) who won the women’s race after a great battle to the line with Sara Doohan (Corran AC).
Sadly the entire field ran over 350 metres? short due to a stewarding issue at a turn – it happens unfortunately, as we know!
“So disappointing as it’s a pb course and I was on for a pb” said Norah.
Congratulations Norah, great running. Well done also to three other Mayo AC finishers- Anto Devaney 57th overall, Anne Marie Staunton and Breege Staunton.
Women 1 Norah Newcombe Pieterse (Mayo AC), 2 Sara Doohan ( Corran AC), 3 Cora Regan (Drumshanbo AC)
Men 1 Gideon Kimosop (1zerO athletes)  2 Damien Landers (Ennis Track AC) , 3 Brian Kinsella (Willowfield Harriers)
Results : (note times = short course – 405 finishers)
