There’s less than two weeks until the Summer 5k Series starts at Foxford on May 23. Well done to Dwayne Flynn who put a marker down in the Streets of Sligo 5k on Sunday. He finished 18th overall of 269 runners in 17:40, a significant improvement on 18:31 in the Streets of Castlebar on a chilly wet February Sunday. Conditions were warm and sunny along the out and back route which finished at O’Connell St. Jake O’Regan (St John’s AC) was the winner on this fast town course in 14:55. The first woman home was Sara Doohan (Corran AC in 17:53. – following her second place in Castlebar Women’s10k last week.
In the Mayo Outdoor track and field championships at Claremorris on Sunday, Declan Owens recorded a unique sprint treble winning the senior men’s 100, 200, and 400 metres. He’s looking forward to a summer of competition and hopefully more success – congratulations Declan.
Well done to our three finishers in the third race of Galway 5k Series at Craughwell this evening. Timmie Glavey was third in 16:57, Keith Holland 20:14, and Dave Huane 24:35. Race winner was Conor Dolan 16:20, that’s three in a row.
