Results round-up

Catching up on results with Saturday 7th-  Well done to John Geraghty who ran a 21:47 5k PB at Castlebar parkrun. One of many who have used these events to sharpen up ahead of the 5k Series. John  followed this up on Sat 14th with a tougher challenge running 10x5k laps in the Portumna 50k. His aim was a 4:20 finish. He had hip/knee problems over the final three laps and finished in 5hrs 08. However the Kilmeena man declared “I’m very happy with my first ultra”.

Also Sat 14th, Galway based Patrick Moran ran 24:54 in the Knocknacarra parkrun. Patrick says it’s a trail course, up and down hills, lots of wooded areas – very enjoyable.

And in Milltown on Sat last, the Run for Ollie 10k (results: RunForOllie2014_Provisional )  We had three among the prizewinners – well done to Dominic, Margaret and Bernie. Dominic Regan was our first finisher in 8th overall and 1st M50 39:43, 10th Patrick Walsh 39:59. Our other finishers included Margaret Glavey 3rd woman 46:08, Laura Heneghan 46:57, Peter Glavey 49:42, Christy O’Malley 51:57, Rebecca McHugh 52:14, Bernie McHugh 1st W50 52:40, Caroline Hession 55:29, Jim Donnelly 1st M60 56:28.

Emmett Dunleavy (five seconds outside course record) and Teresa McGloin repeated their 2103 victories in humid conditions in the 4th running of this popular and well organised event.

Men: 1 Emmett Dunleavy (Sligo AC) 14.55, 2 Ciaran Doherty (Letterkenny) 15.00, 3 Hugh Armstrong (Ballina AC) 15.22, 4 Liam Feely (Nth Leitrim) 15.39,M60: 1 Tom Hunt (Mayo AC) 19.53.

Women: 1 Teresa McGloin (Finn Valley) 17.10, 2 Sara Doohan (Sth Sligo) 18.23, 3 Aisling van Rensburg (Nth Sligo) 18.52,
