Results from Loughglynn 5/10k and Limerick Marathon

Sunday April 30: Loughglynn Woodlands 10k/5k. Two well organised one lap courses on quiet country roads with welcome hedgerows along the way giving shelter from the breezy conditions.

5k:  Congratulations to women’s race winner Tracy Cunnane (Mayo AC)  who finished 7th overall in 22:50 (134 runners/walkers).

Caroline McDowell finished in  28:57. Race winner was Kevin Danagher (Rathfarnham AC) 16:47.

Tracy and Caroline were among a group from Ballyhaunis Mayo AC/Fit4Life with the  rest running the 10k.  They were Justin McDonagh 46:57 (19th overall of 67 finishers), Joseph O’Gara 51:44,  Martin Fitzmaurice 53:15, Deirdre Keary 55:20, Siobhán Walsh 56:53,  Patricia Waldron 64:33, Liz Walsh 65:45,. Elaine Patterson 65:45. Tom Hunt ran 43:41 to finish seventh overall. The race winner was Daire Comer (Tuam AC) 36:24.

The toughest assignment of the day was undertaken by Michael McNeela who travelled to Limerick to compete in the marathon with a 9am start time – one of three races in the city. It was his seventh marathon and he finished in 3:17. That’s a couple of minutes outside his Dublin 2012 PB 3:14. Michael says he was ‘happy enough, conditions were dry but windy in spots’. Well done, Michael.
