Achill Half Marathon Sat 7th July. Well done to both John Byrne and Sarah Syron, with their top three finishes over a tough course. They were among a number of members who ran , updated today Monday when full results published.
Men: 1 Michael Shannon (Kilnaboy AC) 71:55 CR; Julio Cesar Castro (Kilmurry Ibrickane AC) 75:10; 3 John Byrne (Mayo AC) 75:27.
Women: 1 Fionnuala Doherty (Clonliffe Harriers AC) 89:43; Tara Whyte (Clonliffe Harriers AC) 93:12; 3 Sarah Syron (Mayo AC) 94:36.

Michael Shannon won the Headford 8k on Sat evening in 26:16 – on his way back to Clare from Achill. Matt Bidwell (GCH) was second.
Well done to Colette Tuohy W40 who won the Headford 8k women’s race in 30:58, finishing just behind Brendan Hession (30:11). Ann Lennon W45 was second woman in 31:40, and Brendan Gill was our top finisher 6th in an excellent time 27:49. Other finishers included: Owen Mongan M55 34:06, Christy O’Malley M45 36:11, Martin Crehan M50 39:47.

Meanwhile John Byrne’s Irish Ultra 100k team-mate John O’Regan (Le Cheile AC) retained his Energia 24 Hour Irish title at Bangor, Co Down on Saturday. He completed an amazing 208.8k (129.748 miles) within in the 24 hours.
10k runners will be interested to see that Colin Griffin (Ballinamore AC), Irish Olympic qualifier in the 50k, won the 10k walk at the National Senior T&F championships at Santry in 41:48, more than two minutes outside his pb 39:51
