Prizes and PBs on Festive weekend

The festive weekend was severely affected by wet and windy weather and many were relieved to see a brighter drier Sunday. Catching up with other results from St Patrick’s Day:  Brendan Murphy ran 1:26.14 in the Mullingar Half Marathon, a big improvement on his 89.11 finish in the National Half last August. Anne Marie Staunton also turned in a strong performance with a 1:40.29 finish time.
(1,266 entries;
Men: 1 Peter Mooney 73.21,
Women: 1 Siobhan O’Doherty (Borrisokane AC) 78:50

On Sunday March 19, the annual Craughwell 10 took place over a new course. Laura Shaughnessy (DSD) was the unique overall winner in 58.01.

Mayo AC had five women among the 293 finishers. They were led home by a great run from Ann Lennon 33rd overall, 4th woman and first o50 in 66:18. Next in was Edel Feeney 80:30, followed by Maria Kneafsey in a massive personal best in 80:35. She ran 90:17 in the Roscommon 10 last July and this new PB is just reward for a lot of hard work supported by dedicated track training with Matt at Claremorris. Bernie McHugh added another chapter to her running journey with a time of 89:41, while consistent Mary Murphy won the o60 category in 90:42 adding another prize to her collection. (Results
