Perth medal win for Mags
We said we’d update on Sunday’s Australian story. Our photo shows Mags Glavey with her daughter Sheila after the Mother’s Day Classic 8k in Perth in aid of Breast Cancer research. The event slogan says “It doesn’t matter how you walk or run. It just matters why”. Confirmation of the results arrived today that she won the 60 – 69 category in 35:30 finishing 21st of over 700 participants and she’ll be getting her winners medal soon.”I’m enjoying the lovely weather here, good for training!” Great stuff Mags, and more inspiration for those moving to improve this summer – whatever the weather.

As a ‘foot’note to this news ye may remember that Mags was in the Irish team that competed in the Home International Masters Cross Country in Nottingham last November. Well, Mags finished 4th overall in the 65+ category that day in 26:55. The winner was Angi Copson of England in 25:45. Last Sunday, in the ‘biggest’ 10k in Europe the Great Manchester Run, 68 year old Angi Copson broke the world 65+ record by over a minute finishing in 40:30. Amazing stats. Fionnuala Britton was 7th in 32:56.
