Pauline Moran is World Indoor W65 3,000m champion

The 2023 World Masters Indoors Championships are taking place this week in Torún, Poland – March 26 – April 1.

Our multi-medal winning National and International masters champion Pauline Moran is back there again, having competed successfully in the 2019 Championships in W60 category – silver 8k cross-country, silver 3,000m and Irish team gold in half-marathon.

Although the Championships are mainly indoor events there are some distance races outdoors. More on that later.

Last week Pauline ran a fantastic 43:32 in the Tubbercurry St Patrick’s Day 10k, 8th women overall and first prize o60, just two minutes behind our o50 winner ColetteTuohy, and as usual leaving a host of younger finishers in her wake.

At 9a.m today Pauline was among nine W65 women on the Torún 3,000m startline. On paper she was fastest, and had won gold 3,000m in National Masters Indoors in Athlone last month in 12:57. The race also included W60 competitors.

This morning she repeated that success on the world stage coming home first in 12:31 – World Indoor W65 3,000m Champion!
