Pauline Moran breaks three national indoors records

Last Sunday’s 1500 metres W60 podium: l-r Sheelagh Jones (DSD AC) 2nd, record breaker Pauline Moran 1st, Marion Lyons (St Finbarrs AC) 3rd

Breaking news last night regarding Pauline Moran, our 2018 Western People Athletics Sports Star Award winner.  Pauline has been a multi-medal individual masters winner on national and international cross country, and on road and track in recent years, and a leading member of our champion W50 women’s team’s as well.

On Sunday, we reported that she and Mags Glavey spearheaded our excellent medal haul at Athlone in the National Masters Indoors Championships, both of them coming home with three gold medals.
The icing on the cake is that Pauline broke three national masters age category indoor records on Sunday in W60. It’s another well deserved success for our star performer, all down to hard work and talent. She’s a great example for athletes of all age categories.
Pauline’s national indoor record details:  (previous record in brackets)
800 metres: 2:43.37 (2:47.15)
1500 metres: 5:42.50 (5:42.70)
3,000 metres: 11:45.63 (12:15.66)
A brilliant achievement, congratulations Pauline!
In ten days time she will be among over 100 Irish Masters athletes competing in the World Masters Athletics Championship Indoor to be held March 24-30, 2019 in Toruń, Poland. And on this form she’ll be well in contention for more medals.
Best of luck, Pauline.
