As advised in our earlier post Mayo AC have considered “the practical implications of the guidelines”, issued by Sport Ireland/Athletics Ireland this week. These are the new training procedures outlined here by Maria Kneafsey, Club Secretary:

In light of the recent announcement by the government, all training sessions will be capped at 15 members (14 + Matt).

There will be only one track session in Castlebar each Tuesday and one track session in Claremorris each Thursday at 7pm until numbers increase in line with Athletic Ireland and government guidelines.

Booking is essential for each session, and can be done by emailing me to book your slot. If the numbers exceed 14 for any of the sessions, I will draw names from a hat and a list will then be put in place.

For the track session in Castlebar, please email me no later than 9pm on Monday evening and for track session in Claremorris, please email me no later than 9pm on Wednesday evening.

If you have been drawn for a training slot and can’t make it, let me know in advance so another member can fill the slot.

Only one track session per member while the restrictions are in place to make it fair for everyone.

The health forms must be filled out too – prior to the session if possible.

Hopefully the restriction of numbers will be lifted come September, but for now we have to abide by the guidelines and protect each other.

I do appreciate your assistance and help over the last few months to make the sessions run smoothly and your adherence to the guidelines put in place by the committee.
