New member Michael Rocke runs Olympic Park Half Marathon

Mayo AC welcomed a number of newly registered members recently. Among them was Turlough-based Michael Rocke who has joined our new track sessions on Monday evenings at Castlebar GMIT.
Michael ran in London on Sunday in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park half marathon and finished 41st overall in an excellent 83:50. The half marathon course started and finished at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, home of the 2012 London Olympics, and took in the landmarks of that inspiring event and around surrounding closed roads. There was a lap of the one mile Lee Valley VeloPark outdoor circuit and before the finish line by the ArcelorMittal Orbital Structure.
In our 2013 5k Series, Michael was the winner at Brickens, Ballyhaunis and Claremorris and 4th in Castlebar.
He’s a welcome addition to our senior men’s ranks.
