Mayo AC are delighted to introduce John Walkin as club sprints coach.
He will lead sessions every second Thursday at Claremorris in conjunction with our current endurance training led by Matt Bidwell.
Additional sessions will be updated on a session to session basis.
John has also been a leading member of the Mayo Training sprinters group which was set up in April 2022.
John Walkin started sprinting at U15 Level for Castlebar AC under the guidance initially of the great Paddy Kearney.
He has nearly 30 years experience of sprinting and competing at Regional and National levels.
John has won numerous Connacht, Munster, and Leinster Senior and Masters Sprint titles. He has
9 Irish senior and masters individual and relay medals to date. And says he hopes there are more to come.
He is qualified in Anatomy and Physiology with Sports Massage and Rehabilitation.
Growing and developing the club are a key part of our objectives.
In addition to current twice-weekly endurance sessions at Castlebar and Claremorris, these sprint training sessions will add significant value to the club as we plan and develop for the future.
The first of the fortnightly sessions will be on Thursday May 25.
As with all training sessions, €3 is to be paid by members at the track gate prior to entry.
