National Masters Indoors – a massive medal haul by Mayo AC

At the National Masters Indoor Championships today in Athlone TUS Mayo AC were represented by eleven individuals and one relay team. They competed in 12 events – 8 track and four field.
Mayo AC have consistently won about a dozen medals at the Masters Indoors over the years and this year was no exception.
Today they took home thirteen individual medals and one team medal.
Congratulations to today’s Mayo AC medal winners – 7 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze and a relay team silver – a great haul on another very successful day for the club.
The total medal haul was underpinned by gold medal winning performances from Pauline Moran, Brendan Staunton, Mags Glavey, Patrick Moran, Martin Peyton.
There was a season’s best M40 60m and personal best 200m for John Walkin, and a M65 200m personal best silver for Patrick Moran .
Brendan Staunton was the clear winner of the M40 shot with an excellent 11.74m throw.
One of the most competitive race of the day was the M45/50 3,000m with a field of 13. Ger Hartnett Tuam AC won an excellent silver M45 in 9:39.26.
The best was left to last for our competitors when our Men 4x200m relay team won silver in the final event of a day long schedule!
