National 10k official results: – new F65 record for Pauline Moran

As posted earlier there was some brilliant running and excellent medal success for Mayo AC by our nine representatives on Saturday morning last in the National 10k road running Championships in Dublin.

Four of our nine runners took home medals and the remaining five ran their hearts out also.

There was another twist to the o50 women’s club team results when the official results were published.

The combined time of top three finishers count towards podium calculations, replacing the race place points in earlier provisional results and which we reflected in a post.

This meant that Raheny Shamrock AC’s combined time of 2:06.03 was better than Mayo AC’s 2:06.44. So Raheny win gold and Mayo AC silver. Both Raheny and Mayo F50 runners seemed to be as near the front at the start as they could be, with about 3 seconds between gun and chip times.

See results pdf below.

Our individual medal winners were Colette Tuohy silver F50, Angela O’Connor gold F55, Mags Glavey silver F70 and of course Pauline Moran gold F65. We’re still relying on this quartet to keep the flag flying. Where are our M50, F35 teams? Our F50 team would have got silver F35!

Athletics Ireland statistics section provide  Irish Masters with updated records.

It looks like Pauline Moran is the new F65 National 10k record holder. Her 44:25 replaces Mags Glavey who held the F65 record since 2016 when she ran 46:25. That’s brilliant news,  congratulations Pauline!

And let’s not forget Mags who’s F70 finish time last Saturday was only a minute slower than her 2016 time – another amazing achievement.

Just reward too for Colette Tuohy with individual silver and leading her team to silver. Once again she put so much work and energy into getting our group to Dublin. She’s an example to all club members, and maybe will inspire them to do more in terms of training, volunteering, initiatives, and club commitments.
Other Connacht club results from Saturday included silver for the North Sligo AC o35 men’s team.
And Jamie Fallon Craughwell AC got silver in senior men.
Some other National 10k master’s records were also broken :
Niamh O’Sullivan An Riocht broke the F60 record held by Carmel Parnell Leevale AC since 2016 with a brilliant 39:29.
She was one of the early risers travelling 279k to Dublin from Castleisland – 30k further than Pauline Moran travelled from Newport! Finishing second to Niamh was Mayo woman Mary Browne Lucan AC who clocked 47:48. Another Mayo woman Majella Diskin An Riocht finished second to Pauline Moran in F65 47:48. She was part of An Riocht’s silver medal winning F35 team!
Eileen Kenny Athlone ran a new  F70 record – 45:30 –  finishing ahead of Mags Glavey.
Former National Marathon winner Pauric McKinney was up at 3am and finished just 10 seconds outside Tommy Hughes 2019 M55 record with an amazing 33:43.
