As posted earlier there was some brilliant running and excellent medal success for Mayo AC by our nine representatives on Saturday morning last in the National 10k road running Championships in Dublin.
Four of our nine runners took home medals and the remaining five ran their hearts out also.
There was another twist to the o50 women’s club team results when the official results were published.
The combined time of top three finishers count towards podium calculations, replacing the race place points in earlier provisional results and which we reflected in a post.
This meant that Raheny Shamrock AC’s combined time of 2:06.03 was better than Mayo AC’s 2:06.44. So Raheny win gold and Mayo AC silver. Both Raheny and Mayo F50 runners seemed to be as near the front at the start as they could be, with about 3 seconds between gun and chip times.
See results pdf below.
Our individual medal winners were Colette Tuohy silver F50, Angela O’Connor gold F55, Mags Glavey silver F70 and of course Pauline Moran gold F65. We’re still relying on this quartet to keep the flag flying. Where are our M50, F35 teams? Our F50 team would have got silver F35!
Athletics Ireland statistics section provide Irish Masters with updated records.
It looks like Pauline Moran is the new F65 National 10k record holder. Her 44:25 replaces Mags Glavey who held the F65 record since 2016 when she ran 46:25. That’s brilliant news, congratulations Pauline!
And let’s not forget Mags who’s F70 finish time last Saturday was only a minute slower than her 2016 time – another amazing achievement.
