Timmie Glavey warmed up for Kilmovee by winning the Meelick 5k on Wed evening last 16th April, It was the third race in Swinford AC’s Wed eve Spring Series. He finished in 16:50 – and encouraged by that (plus ‘egged’ on by his mother Margaret), he finished 7th overall in 35:43 in Kilmovee. Good to see Timmie back racing after some injury issues. Another Kilmovee finisher was John Geraghty 46:29 – preparing for the Belfast Marathon on BH Mon May 5th.
The flatlands of Kilmovee do not suit everyone as some disappointed runners found out – the ups and downs on other courses can present more demanding challenges, but better times. There’s a good few 5ks coming up before the next Move2Improve race, the Irishtown 8k, so as they say – if you want to run faster, run in faster races.
Easter Sat morning parkruns: Castlebar (74): Anto Devaney was first home in 18:15, while Marijike Beltman was first woman home in 21:09. Clive Lavelle 21:09, got some speed work in ahead of the Limerick Marathon on 4th May; other finishers there were Carmel Cloherty 35:27, Frank Cloherty 35:29
Marlay Park (653): As noted elsewhere, Paula Prendergast was first woman home in a PB – 18:35.
On Easter Monday, Colette Tuohy won the women’s race in Labane (Co Galway) 10k in 39:32. Race won by Kilmovee winner Matt Bidwell (GCH) in 33:49
