Mick Rocke runs 2:53 in Boston Marathon

Today was the 126th running of the Boston marathon – the world’s oldest and most prestigious. It’s traditionally held on Patriot’s Day – the third Monday in April.

We had one finisher (that we know of) – Turlough-based Michael Rocke who joined the club in early 2019. He ran a Half Marathon in London that summer in 83:50. Later in 2019 he finished the Dublin Marathon in 2:57.11.

Today his finish time results were 2:53.37 net, 2:56.38 gun. He passed the halfway point in 1:26.25. This and his 5k splits show he ran a very even paced race. His first 5k was 20:40 and he ran 35-40k in 20:43. And 41:16 from 30k to 40k.

Congratulations Mick! Excellent performance.

The Covid protocols for the event included all participants showing an exception or being vaccinated.

These are the details of Mick’s race including 5k splits.
