Medals galore at Tullamore Masters Track & Field
Sunday July 2, National Masters Track & Field Championships Tullamore

W45 1500 metres medal winners: l-r Evelyn Cashman (Youghal AC), Colette Tuohy (Mayo AC), Ashling Smith (Sli Cualann AC)
While Mags Glavey and Pauline Moran were brilliant, each with triple gold achievements, the day belonged to Colette Tuohy who ran two wonderful races to win silver over 3,000 metres in 10:47 and gold 1500 in 5:04,04 . She displayed the amazing physical and mental strength that we have seen on the road so often in recent years, and her success is well deserved in the face of tough times in recent months. It was also Colette’s first outdoor track event in 31 years – she competed at Tullamore in U17 girls secondary schools competition in 1986. Pauline had a great battle with her DSD rival Maxine Jones in the 1500 metres and came home just over a second ahead in 5:45.56. Patrick Moran collected four medals in the field events – silver and three bronze including a discus PB – adding to his recent British Masters Pentathlon bronze. Angela O’Connor ran strongly for her two medals – and like Ann Murray, Mags, and Pauline competed in three hard races in the space of a few hours. Well done to all of our competitors today and congratulations to our medalists. Look out for more photos from Tullamore on our facebook pages.
