Mayo Fit4life 5k Summer Series Ends in Style!
Westport Ladies Fit4life Team winners and leaders pictured at the Fit4life Barbeque at the Western Hotel Claremorris accepting their prize from Tony Gleeson ‘Country Harvest’ Fruit and Veg store, Claremorris.
On Wednesday last July 14th all roads led to Claremorris when 160 walkers and runners took part in the final leg of the 5k Fit4life Series.
First male home was TJ Mc Hugh, followed by Daniel Murray and Paddy O’Toole all of Mayo AC. The first female home this week was again Collete Touhy Mayo AC with club mate Cathy Connolly in second position and the young Rosie Hynes of Swinford AC coming in a very strong 3rd.
Some of the Fit4life runners who finished very strong were Michael Mc Neela, Peter Duffy, Robbie Reynolds, Tony Heraghty, Michael Sheridan, John Timothy, Adrian Joyce, Damien Glackin, Edel Hacket, Joan Walsh, Lucy Mc Namara, Sinead Connolly, Tracey Durkan, Georgia Mc Millan, Michelle Heneghan, Ann Mc Donnell, Collette Whelan, Blaíthin O’Brien, Mary Murphy, Mary Walshe, Michelle Reynolds, Patricia Gallagher.
After the walk/run participants and friends retired to the Western Hotel for an ‘indoor Barbeque’ where the prizegiving took place. There was a packed house with hundreds of people all involved in Fit4life throughout the county there. The Westport Women’s Fit4life team were awarded the first place position with Claremorris in second place and Ballinrobe and Castlebar very closely following on. Gerry Kilroy Westport accepted Westports award with Tracey Durkan accepting Claremorris’s ladies prizes.
The men’s fit4life individual prizes were won by Michael Mc Neela (C’morris), Peter Duffy,(w’port) Robbie Reynolds (Ballina), Tony Heraghty (w’port), Michael Sheridan (C’morris), John Timothy (C’morris) and Damien Glackin (C’morris)
