Mayo ACs Robert Malseed wins World Mountain Bronze

Mayo AC’s Robert Malseed recently finished 9th at the World Masters Mountain Running Championship in Poland bringing his team into bronze medal position. His team mates consisted of Peter O’Farrell a well known and experienced athlete (Gaelforce winner 2009, runner-up 2010) and Richie Mc Cauley

The organisers of the event expected nice, warm, weather and dry conditions for the athletes, suffice it to say they were taken by surprise with the inclimate weather. This made the course more difficult.. Facing strong, established teams such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Germany and Poland, the 3 lads in Green finished 3rd, with Italy 1st and Poland 2nd in a very close team event.

Quite an impact for such a small contingent from the western fringe of Europe!
