Mayo AC Sunday results: Abbottstown, Drumshanbo

The Athletics Ireland Senior Indoor Championships were held in Abbotstown on Saturday and Sunday.

Well done to Claudia Davey Mayo AC who ran 8.75 – a new PB – in heat 4 of the women’s 60m today.


Well done also to four Mayo AC runners in the Tony McGowan Run in Drumshsnbo.

Three races took place: half-marathon, 10k and 5k with a total of well over a thousand finishers

Half-marathon: great running by Andrew Hayes who finished 16th overall in 1:26.21, and Caitlin Woods came home in 1:57.16

Race winners were Clive Glancy Carrick-on-Shannon AC 1:15.33, and Sarah Flanagan Tullamore Harriers AC 1:25.40.

10k: Kevin Jennings finished an excellent 7th overall in 37:45. Johnny Cribbin was 1st M60 across the line in 42:28.

Andrew Hayes finished second in the 10k in 2022 in 36:58, and fourth in 2023 37:38.

Race winners were Desi Foley Sligo AC 34:04, with clubmate Heather Foley first woman in 39:14.






The run is named after Tony McGowan (1940-2007) who co-founded Drumshanbo Athletics Club in 1980 and managed the club and schools teams competing at multiple local road races and All-Ireland Cross-Country Finals.
