Four Mayo AC members competed in the virtual Deep Heat Deep Freeze Great Ireland 10k run. Individuals and teams took part in the event. Over 1,500 times from men and women athletes were submitted.

All had to complete their 10ks in the week from July 20 to July 26.

Some of our leading women athletes made up the Mayo AC four.

Norah Newcombe ran her 10k on the morning of July 22 (Wednesday) on the road out towards Attymass in Ballina in 38.46. She finished 4th on the women’s leaderboard.

Colette Tuohy ran an out and back on the Turlough Greenway on Saturday July 25 in 39.52 and listed 7th .

Pauline Moran ran on the Newport to Achill Greenway on Wednesday July 22 in 42.12 for 11th place.

Paula Donnellan Walsh also ran on Wednesday at Kilmaine for 13th place in 43.00.

In the women’s club results Mullingar Harriers AC took the top spot led home by race winner Claire Fagan who ran 34:46, with a combined time of 2:34.10 and they win €300; Mayo AC were second with 2:43.50 winning €200.
