Mayo AC success at Kilmovee 10k 5k: results photos

Kilmovee 10k: John Byrne Mayo AC 1st o40, Sean Burke Tuam AC 1st o50













The 13th Annual Kilmovee 10k in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice and Kilmovee Shamrocks GAA took place on Saturday afternoon (March 30).

There was a record turnout in good running conditions, sunny and dry with a chilly breeze.

The winner of the 2024 edition of the 10k was Ray Hynes Mullingar Harriers AC 33:22, with Shaun McLoughlin Westport AC second 33:46, and Anthony Murray Multisport Westport third 35:43.
The women’s race winner was Aoibhinn Flatley Swinford AC 39:56 – she was second last year in 41:43;
Donna Gallagher 42:17 was second and
Angela O’Connor 42:24, also Mayo AC came home third. Both Donna and Angela displayed great form again this week after their brilliant runs last Sunday in Dunboyne.
John Byrne was first of Mayo AC’s 22 runners home – 4th overall in 35:50, and 1st o40 category.
It was a great performance by John again this weekend in his third 10k in the space of 13 days underlining his excellent return to form.

Johnny Cribbin 1st M60 41:20 – he clocked 42:48 in last year’s race,

In the Kilmovee 5k Martina O’Connor was another Mayo AC prizewinner – first overall in the race in 19:31..also her third race in 13 days. Second was Caitlin Hughes Swinford AC 20:12, third and  first man was Brian Gallagher 20:13

As usual the event was well organised with the help of excellent support by volunteers all round the course, and at the post race prizegiving and refreshments in the Community Centre.

Meantime over in Belgrade today, in the World Cross-Country Championships senior race, the two Irish representatives – Mayo native Hugh Armstrong and Sligo native Keelan Kilrehill – finished 50th and 56th respectively of 107 finishers.
