Mayo AC success at Galway Junior Senior Masters T and F Championships
The Galway Junior Senior Masters Track and Field Championships were held at the weekend in Dangan.
Mayo AC competed in a number of events and came away with medals in most of them. This is how they fared:
They were the only relay team in 4x100m clocking 53:67: Gerry Kirrane, Keith Conroy, Mikey McAndrew, DeclanOwens.
Two teams competed in the 4x400m with the same four Mayo AC coming second to a Tallaght AC quartet.
In heat 2 of 100m Declan Owens finished 5th Senior in 12:25, with Mikey McAndrew 3rd junior in 12:74.
In heat 1 Keith Conroy was first of three M35 in 12:42 – winner ran 11:41.
In 200m M35 John Walkin was 6th M35 in 26:07, winner 24:91.
200m Declan Owens was 2nd Senior in 25:34, a well earned medal!
Mikey McAndrew was 4th in Junior men in 26:02.
Gvido Roze was the only Senior in men’s 3,000 finishing in 11:13.06, – the other 3,000m finisher was Louis Coyne GCH M35 10:47.

This marks the final outdoor senior Track and Field competition of the season. It was a very full season for the sprinters group who took part in various county, regional and national competitions adding important experience to their successes. Mikey McAndrew had a great first season in the Junior ranks.
