Mayo AC results from Killarney 10k, Charlestown 5k, Streets of Galway 8k

Our runners were in action in three locations this weekend – so far.

Early on Saturday August 6, some members travelled south to run in Killarney races.

10k : Well done Johnny Cribbin M60 – 4th in the o50 men’s race in 44:01. And to Breege Cribbin 53:15,  Colette McTigue 1:02.59, Patricia Nyland 1:06.39

On Friday evening the final race in the East Mayo summer series took place at Charlestown. Another small field this week. Great running again by Martina O’Connor first woman home in a fast 19:58, followed by her mother Angela W55 2nd in 20:48, and showing excellent form ahead of next Saturday’s National Masters Track and Field Championships at Tullamore.
And this evening the 36th edition of the Streets of Galway 8k road race was hosted by GCH.

As usual a huge field assembled  at Fr Griffin Road. The course took them through the city centre, out along St Mary’s Road to Salthill and back along the Bay to the South Park finish.

Race winner was Annett Andrew Mourne Runners 24:10, (top six finishers under 25 minutes).
Íde Ní Dhomhnaill Donore Harriers was the first woman home in 26:50.

Well done to Mayo AC’s finishers led home by Tony O’Malley 31:28 and 3rd M50.

Sarah Byrne ran 31:27 – in great form recently with another brilliant time and 7th woman overall. In the results she’s listed one place behind Tony on gun time.
