On Saturday evening (August 12) the 37th edition of the Streets of Galway 8k road race was hosted by Galway City Harriers.

As usual a huge field assembled at Fr Griffin Road. The course took them through the city centre, out into a south westerly breeze along St Mary’s Road to Salthill, and back along the Bay with the wind to the South Park finish.
Race winner was David McGlynn Waterford AC 24:07.
Íde Ní Dhomhaill Donore Harriers was the first woman home in 26:48 just two seconds better than her winning time last year. Two weeks ago she won the National Senior 5000m title in 15:44.
