Mayo AC – more Weekend Warriors
Adding to the weekend’s trojan efforts of 43 members as listed already (Tullamore, Larne), were 4 more who completed the 37th Annual Warriors Run in Strandhill Co Sligo on Sunday.
Starting at sea-level in Strandhill the course goes out the village and along Glen Road, then up to the top of Knocknarea (elevation 327 metres), around Queen Maeve’s cairn, and back down round the other side of the mountain to finish near the Strandhill promenade.
Organisers warn that “The Warriors Run is a physically challenging event and only those who have sufficiently trained for this event or who are experienced runners should take part.”
It’s been a popular event for many Mayo AC runners over the years.
First of the this year’s four Mayo AC finishers was Claremorris based Kevin Jennings 1:12.12
Another Claremorris local Rhianna Heneghan running under the Team West adventure racing banner was next home finishing fifth woman in 1:15.14.
Then came Padraic McVann 1:16.39, and Angela McVann 1:43.40 – well used to that challenging terrain.
Well done to all four! A few photos below.
Race winners were Seamus Somers Sligo AC 59:18, and first woman was Aoife McCavana 1:10.15.
Results: 1024 finishers.
