A couple of members ran in the annual Maugherow 10k yesterday in aid of local community development.
It’s a sort of ‘figure of eight’ course (from memory), starting at the Community Centre in the Co Sligo village near Ballinfull.
As you can see from the map it takes in Raughly Harbour with sea views and scents! There’s a long uphill gradient as runners return from the coast which makes it a tough finish, especially on a warm June evening.
Ray Clarke and Dee Corcoran were our two finishers there – a regular racing duo who have both made significant strides in improving their times at various distances in last couple of years.
Yesterday Ray Clarke came home 12th in 42:58 and Dee Corcoran in 44:39, 4th woman.
Well done both.
Race winner was Donal Egan North Sligo AC 37:15, with first woman Valeria Petrova 42:44.
