Gold for Hunt at 2010 Dublin City Marathon
Incredibly this year over 25 athletes from Mayo AC and Mayo AC Fit4life participated
in the Dublin City Marathon. In a crowd of over 13,500 participants Mayo AC featured
very strongly. Conditions were ideal on the day, autumnal and cool with some beautiful
sunshine.
Tom Hunt put in a Trojan performance which earned him a national gold medal in the
O60 category in a time of 3:10:57, while Owen Mongan finished in national bronze
medal position in the O55

One of the real success stories of this marathon were the amount of fit4life members who
participated. Members such as John Gibbons, Tony Gleeson, Maggie Heneghan, Ann Mc
Donnell, Damien Glackin, as well as other participants on the day which included fit4life
members Pauline Clerkin and Ann Shortt some taking part in their first ever marathons.
Well done to all members on some really fine performances!

In the team event the Mayo Senior team were to the fore and finished 8th overall out of 28 teams, in a very competive division which was won by Clonliff AC.
The womens Seniors team had a great day also and finished 7th overall.
The Mens 50+ look like they just missed out on a medal, finishing 4th.
Well done to all Mayo AC members who completed the course this year. Individual results can be found here: http://www.athleticsireland.ie/content/?p=15934
