Mayo AC Award Winners & Upcoming Races

Four Mayo AC members were among the winners at the 2010 C+C Cellular/ Mayo AAI County Board Awards function held in the Park Hotel Kiltimagh on Sunday last.
This is the annual gathering to recognise the achievements of athletes of all ages from all over Mayo at National level in the past year.
Western People Sports Star Catherine Conway capped off a fine 2010 by taking the Senior Women road racing award while her team mate Chris Gallagher took the Masters Women road racing award.

John Byrne (who will represent Mayo Ac and Ireland is currently tapering for the Anglo Celtic Plate, 100K which takes place in Perth on the 27th March) was named Master Men over 35 road racing award winner. While Tom Hunt, who was in flight somewhere between China and Ireland as it was being announced that he was winner of the Master Men’s over 50 category.
The Hall of Fame went to Paddy Murray to mark his many successes since taking up the sport in 1977.
Also a special presentation was made to the Cullina family as a tribute to the late Padraic secretary of Mayo AC who passed away following a short illness last November.
The awards function was again a great success and wonderfully hosted this year by Swinford AC assisted by Mayo AAI County Board members and made possible by the continued support of the C+C Cellular Group .

Looking forward
While it could be said that this awards function is the final reflection on 2010, Mayo AC are already building up for the 2011 season . Plans for the 13th Mayo AC road league are being put in place and will be announced in the coming weeks. The first race will be the Kilmovee 10k on Saturday April 23rd . Also Mayo AC will shortly be launching details of their Spring/Summer Fit4Life programme
