Submitted by Michael McGrath

Mayo AC have just announced details of their Winter Fit4Life programme .The club now operates four meet and train groups in the  southern part of the county in Ballyhaunis Ballinrobe Castlebar and Claremorris.
Fit4Life caters for people over 18 with no upper age limit and provides an opportunity for people to improve their fitness in a safe sociable environment at low
cost .Fit4life is open to all levels of fitness, from beginners upward and all centres
trained team leaders in attendance catering for people who wish to walk, jog or run or
who want to progress from one of those levels to another.

Since it was first established in the Spring of 2009 the Mayo A.C. Fit4Life has catered
for hundreds of members.
Speaking recently Michael McGrath Chairman of Mayo AC. Outlined what has
happened to date “Since the Mayo A.C. Fit4Llife was set up in Claremorris in
February 2009 we have helped many women and men to improve their fitness and
general health. We have organised a number of 5k series races with a fun aspect for
people of all levels of fitness and on occasions we offer workshops for people to offer
advice on various themes like fitness, nutrition footwear etc

With Fit4life there is no pressure to attend each week. While some members attend
regularly others dip in and dip out as it suits their lifestyle. Also there is always a big
welcome back for those who may not have attended for a while. Fit4life has a huge
social element to it and great friendships have been forged through walking, jogging
and running in the past few years.

For the next four weeks (leading up to the Mayo A.C, Fit4Life Christmas Party
in the Dalton Inn Claremorris on Thursday night December 22nd ) all who attend
any of the Fit4Life sessions enter a free draw for a selection of prizes including the

star prize of a top of the range I.Phone in association with the clubs sponsors C+C
Cellular .This promotion is open to all existing Mayo AC/Fit4life members and of
course all new perspective members who can join in at any of the venues on any of
the evenings. After a short break for the festive season Fit4Life will resume early in
the New Year.

The Mayo A.C. ‘Fit4Life’ is organised in association with Mayo Sports
Partnership. Speaking recently Anne Ronayne, Community Sports Development
Project Worker complimented the club on its achievements to date and wished them
well on their winter promotion and their plans for 2012. “Fit4life has been and can be
life changing for many people, over the years I have seen many people really increase
their fitness becoming more confident in their walking and jogging. The weekly
sessions give people something to aim for and with great leaders to help newcomers it
really is an opportunity for all people to improve their health and wellbeing”
